The exact species vary by theme. For example, The Contemporary Monochrome includes a pair of cloud-pruned Bay Laurel lollipops with companion planting featuring Hydrangea 'Annabelle', Astrantia 'White Giant', Carex 'Evergold', Dryopteris affinis, and Ophiopogon 'Nigrescens'. The White Evening Garden pairs Portuguese Laurel lollipops with white-flowering Digitalis, Geranium, Astrantia, Stachys byzantina, and Hydrangea.

Standard includes 22 plants total (2 topiary + 20 border) and delivers a clean, proportionate entrance scheme — enough variety to create texture and seasonal interest with a single pass through each planting layer. It suits most UK front entrances and is manageable to maintain.

Impactful includes 36 plants total (2 topiary + 34 border) and extends each layer with greater repetition, additional species, and denser ground coverage. It produces a fuller, more abundant result — the kind of entrance planting that looks professionally designed. It's best suited to larger entrance areas or buyers who want maximum visual impact from day one.

Do the bundles include pots or planters?

No — bundles include plants only. Topiary arrives in its nursery grow pot, and companion plants arrive in individual pots ready for planting directly into the ground. If you plan to keep your topiary in containers rather than planting in-ground, we recommend selecting planters separately to suit your entrance style and dimensions. Our team can advise on appropriate pot sizes for your chosen bundle.

Are the companion plants perennial, or will I need to replant each year?

The vast majority of companion plants in our bundles are hardy perennials, evergreen shrubs, or semi-evergreen grasses — they return year after year without replanting. We deliberately avoid annuals and bedding plants that require seasonal replacement. The goal is a scheme that matures and improves over time, not one that needs refreshing every spring.

The bundles are designed for typical UK front entrances — the planting area either side of your front door where you'd like the scheme to sit. As a practical minimum, you'll need approximately 60cm depth from house wall to front edge and 80cm width on each side of your doorway.

Standard tier works beautifully in moderate planting areas (roughly 0.5–0.8m² per side). Impactful tier is designed for larger areas (0.8m²+ per side) where the additional plants have room to establish without crowding.

If your entrance is narrower or more constrained, Standard tier is the better choice — it delivers proportionate coverage without overcrowding a compact space. If you have a generous entrance with deep borders, Impactful will fill the space with the richness and layering it deserves.

Can I use these bundles for a back door, side entrance, or patio doorway?

Yes — the design principles translate to any threshold. While the bundles are optimised for front entrance proportions and lighting conditions, there's nothing stopping you from using them at rear patio doors, side passages, or courtyard entrances. The key consideration is light: check the individual bundle's product page for aspect guidance. Bundles designed for shade-tolerant planting will work on north-facing or sheltered entrances of any kind, while sun-loving schemes need at least four hours of direct light regardless of position.

How long does it take to plant an Entrance Transformation Bundle?

For an experienced gardener, expect 2–3 hours for a Standard bundle and 3–4 hours for an Impactful bundle. This includes preparing the soil, positioning plants according to the layout guide, planting at the correct depths, watering in, and applying mulch.\

If you're less experienced, allow a half-day. The planting layout guide is designed to be straightforward — every plant is labelled with a number that corresponds to its position on the diagram, so you're following a clear map rather than making design decisions as you go.

We recommend having the following ready before your delivery arrives: a garden fork, trowel, watering can or hose, general-purpose compost, and bark mulch for finishing.
